How to Market your Airbnb for Valentines Day

Oh, Valentine’s Day. Some love it, some hate it. The heart-shaped balloons, baby cupid, and chocolates invade every rack at the store. I’m not much of a fan of this celebration, but whether you love it or hate it, there is no doubt that this day injects an enormous amount of money to the economy, and I am talking billions, as in $20.7 billion in 2019. And since we are in business, no anti-commercialized-love movement can stop us from jumping on the bandwagon and getting our share of the $20+billions from those strawberry-loving couples and friends that decide to celebrate.

It is, then, the perfect chance to market your place as the preferred spot to honor Mr. Valentines. I will share with you 5 tips to book your place for a romantic - or friendly - getaway.

  1. Create a special rate for Valentines night or weekend. Add this to your listing’s title and to your Instagram bio.

  2. Offer special packages including champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, or flowers for the couple. The special night rate should cover for this expenses. We want to create a great experience, but never at our own expense! This is a business.

  3. Offer a “girls night” or “boys night” if your place is big enough. You can include board games, chocolate face masks, champagne, or movie night with popcorn for friends to enjoy together.

  4. Collaborate with local businesses. Offer a discount to a wine/whiskey/beer tasting tour nearby, a reservation and a free drink at your favorite local restaurant, or find an artist that will give a painting lesson or make a caricature of the couple or group of friends.

  5. Market on Facebook, Instagram, change your title on Airbnb, let all of your friends know, print flyers, and shout it out loud! Market like crazy! :)

Remember that what you offer will make the difference between selecting a “special rate” for a night from a competitor, versus the opportunity to celebrate love on a special night that they will never forget at your place. Go ahead and stand out from the masses.

Don’t forget to pat yourself on the back once your place gets booked, and celebrate the best way you know. Whether it is eating french fries, chocolate covered marshmallows, or giving french kisses, love and friendship should never be taken for granted.

Happy hosting!

XOXO
